PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an engine to be made compact, the engine being arranged such that a first cam shaft having a power input portion at its one end and a second cam shaft connected to the first cam shaft at its one end so as to operate in linkage with the first cam shaft have axial lines parallel to each other and are rotatably supported by a cylinder head, and a driven gear engaging with a driving gear provided at the other end of one of the first and second cam shafts is provided on an auxiliary equipment driving shaft connected to an auxiliary equipment attached to an engine body including a cylinder head. SOLUTION: An axial line of the auxiliary equipment driving shaft 71 is located between both cam shafts 31, 32 on the side of the cylinder head 11 with respect to a line extending between the axial lines of the first and the second cam shafts 31, 32.
