PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for vector-displaying color components within a specific range of a luminance component of a video signal. SOLUTION: In the method and the apparatus, a demultiplexer 12 demultiplexes a luminance (Y) component and color components (Cr, Cb) from an input video signal (1). Ordinary vector display 14 is performed by Cr and Cb (2). A high luminance gate 16 passes Cr and Cb to perform high luminance vector display 22 when the Y component is within a high luminance range (3). A middle luminance gate 18 passes Cr and Cb to perform middle luminance vector display 24 when the Y component is within a middle luminance range (4).
