PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the running cost of a digital camera by preventing a memory effect of secondary batteries. SOLUTION: A camera 2 has secondary batteries 17 as a power source, and is connected to a stand 3 to make a charging circuit 71 incorporated into the stand 3 charge the secondary betteries 17. The camera 2 operates in an image forming mode for forming an image of a photographed object, in a reproducing mode for reproducing the formed image on a LCD 22, and in a discharge mode for making the secondary batteries 17 discharge. When a mode of the camera 2 is shifted to the discharge mode by an operating signal from an input section 41, an analog process circit, a digital process circuit, and a memory I/F62, which are included in the electrical configuration of the camera 2, are turned on to consume the power of the secondary batteries 17 sufficiently.
