<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an air bag of a side air bag device from interfering with a lap belt of a seat belt device to secure deployment. <P>SOLUTION: An air bag device comprises air bags 16 contained, in a folded state, in a seat back 12 and the side surface of a seat cushion of a seat 11 where an occupant is seated, and the air bags 16 expand by gas generated by an inflator 15 and deploy between the side inner surface of a cabin and the occupant when a vehicle collides at the side surface. Since the air bags 16 are arranged outside a lap belt 27 of the seat belt device 26 provided to the seat 11, the air bags deploy from the seat back 12 and the side surface of the seat cushion 13 without interfering with the lap belt 27 and effectively bringing a shock absorbing effect. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
