<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber array for optical communication which is formed as multiple fibers, and is high in dimensional accuracy, facilitates processing and is inexpensive, and a fiber array for optical communication which can reduce the consumption of adhesives in fixing an optical fiber to a base material. <P>SOLUTION: The fiber array for optical communication consists of a base material into which optical fibers are to be inserted and a retaining plate for pressing and fixing the optical fiber inserted therein. The base material has a plurality of grooves into which the optical fibers are to be inserted and the accuracy of the center-to-center distances between the adjacent grooves is within±0.5μm and the parallelism in the longitudinal direction of the grooves between the adjacent grooves is within±0.1°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
