<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyarylene sulfide, by which polyarylene sulfide particles having good handleability on transportation, storage, and the like, having excellent transportability in the hoppers and screws of extruders and molding machines, and having a high and stable bulk density can be produced in a relatively short polymerization cycle. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the polyarylene sulfide, comprising thermally reacting a dihalogeno aromatic compound with an alkali metal compound in a polar organic solvent and then cooling the reaction product to obtain the granular polyarylene sulfide, is characterized by selectively gradually cooling the maximum thickening temperature±1°C temperature zone of the system in a cooling process at an average cooling rate of 0.2 to 1.0 °C/min. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
