摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveform equalizer and a shift register with less power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A data storage FF 101 latches data of an input signal in a tap 1 of the shift register of the waveform equalizer. On the other hand, a tap coefficient arithmetic unit 104 calculates a tap coefficient and a tap coefficient storage FF 102 latches the tap coefficient and outputs the tap coefficient to an absolute value arithmetic unit 105. The absolute value arithmetic unit 105 obtains the absolute value of the tap coefficient and a comparator 106 compares the absolute value of the tap coefficient with a threshold. A mask unit 107 masks the data from the data storage FF 101 and outputs the data to a multiplier when the absolute value of the tap coefficient is less than the threshold and the mask unit 107 outputs the data from the data storage FF 101 to the multiplier 103 as they are when the absolute value of the tap coefficient is the threshold or larger.
