<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the number of switching devices which repeat transmission data by constituting a network. <P>SOLUTION: A host A transmits a plurality of packets with different sizes S0, S1 to a partner host B via the network, detects arrival times of respective transmission packets, calculates transfer times t0, t1 of the network of respective transmission packets from transmission starting times and arrival starting times of respective transmission packets, and calculates the number n of switching hubs #1 to #3 on the network by n=(t0-t1)/äT(S0-S1)} based on the transfer times t0, t1 and the sizes S0, S1 of respective transmission packets. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
