PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal battery certainly igniting a piezoelectric ignition plug by preventing high voltage discharge between a positive lead portion and a negative lead portion, and a battery case. SOLUTION: The thermal battery comprises the battery case 1 made from conductive material; a unit cell laminating element stored in the battery case; a sealing plate 12 equipped with an ignition plug 3 igniting the unit cell laminating element, a positive terminal 10, and a negative terminal 11; and a positive lead portion 8 and a negative lead portion 9 respectively connecting the positive terminal and the negative terminal to the unit cell laminating element. Insulating portions 13, 16 are provided between the positive lead portion and the negative lead portion, and the battery case. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
