PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection system for a cylinder injection type internal combustion engine capable of setting fuel injection pressure low. SOLUTION: This fuel injection system is provided with a valve element 6 for opening/closing a nozzle hole; a valve opening actuator 10 for allowing the valve element to open a valve; a valve closing elastic energizing means 9 for energizing the valve element in a valve closing direction; and a second valve closing energizing force generating means 11 capable of generating second valve closing energizing force for energizing the valve element in the valve closing direction in addition to first valve closing energizing force generated by the valve closing elastic energizing means. The second valve closing energizing force generating means generates the second valve closing energizing force at and after the start of combustion in a cylinder. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
