PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a power line carrier communication system for performing communication without stopping, regardless of an operation state or the presence or absence of power supply of a circuit breaker in a switchboard. SOLUTION: In the power line carrier communication apparatus, when the power is not supplied from a power line, base band signals are directly transmitted to the power line and the base band signals supplied from the power line are directly inputted into a modulating/demodulating means. Also, in the switchboard, when a family breaker is in a open state, base band signals supplied from a power line of a corresponding power grid are converted into power line carrier communication signals and are sent out to a power line of another power system, power line carrier communication signals supplied from a power line of another power grid is converted into base band signals and are sent out to the power line of the corresponding power grid.
