PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus capable of transmitting image data with proper resolution and density corresponding to a transmission method while preventing the communication cost from being increased by transmitting the image data of an original through the automatic selection of setting values of the resolution and density depending on whether the transmission method is faxing or electronic mail without the need for adjustment operations as to the resolution and density at reading or transmission of the image data of the original. SOLUTION: This invention provides the communication apparatus capable of individually setting initial values of either or both of the resolution and the density in reading an original or transmitting the image data of the original depending on whether the image data of the original are sent as a facsimile or as an attached file of electronic mail.
