PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy material for forging in which a casting skin after continuous casting is smooth and requires no peeling, and the casting material can be forged as it is, and which has excellent toughness, strength or the like, and to provide a method for continuously casting the same. SOLUTION: The molten metal of the aluminum alloy material for forging is passed through a mold 2, and is subjected to continuous casting. In this case, the casting rate is controlled so that the solidification boundary m of the material is located toward the inside of the mold 2 from the edge 2b on the exhaust side of the mold 2, and the aluminum alloy material for forging in which the thickness of segregation layers formed on the surface is 0.1 to 2 mm, and the facial roughness of the surface is≤35 of Ra is obtained.
