PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing an Al-Si based alloy material which consists of an Al-Si based alloy such as an Al-Si-Cu based alloy, an Al-Si-Mg based alloy and an Al-Si-Cu-Mg based alloy, has a fine crystal structure even after solution treatment and has excellent mechanical properties. SOLUTION: The production method comprises the stages of: heat-treating an Al-Si based alloy selected from an Al-Si-Cu based alloy, an Al-Si-Mg based alloy and an Al-Si-Cu-Mg based alloy, and changing at least 50% of the crystallized Si from a bar shape into a spheroidal shape; subjecting the alloy after the heat treatment to an intensive working treatment of applying a large strain at 200 to 350°C; and subjecting the alloy to a solution treatment.
