PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inclining device for a backrest or the like in a chair, which can varied the energizing force of an energizing means drastically, has simple structure, and can be designed compactly. SOLUTION: The backrest or a seat is supported by a support base 5 supported by legs so as to be inclining possible backward and downward, and also energized forward and upward by the recovery energizing means 9. The energizing means 9 includes a plurality of unit energizing means 27, 28, and 29. The device also includes a changeover means for selectively transmitting the energizing force of each unit energizing means to the backrest or the seat. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
