PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a step overcoming device which can be attached without removing casters or wheels provided on a carrying vehicle such as an already existing wheelchair, can extremely easily get over a step without requiring labor at the time of getting over the step. SOLUTION: At least at an upper location on the front side of a vehicle body 3, a support shaft 13 is laterally stretched in the width direction of the vehicle body 3. On the support shaft 13, an arm rod 21 equipped with an approximately arch-shape supporting surface 22 extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body 3 at the lower end is pivotally supported in a manner to be turnable in the longitudinal direction. The arm rod 21 is urged in the forward turning direction through a holding means, and at the same time, the arm rod 21 is held turnably backward at a using position wherein the front end of the approximately arc-shape supporting surface 22 becomes higher than the axle shafts 26 and 26 of wheels 5 and 5 in front of the wheels 5 and 5 on the front side. Thus, when the carrying vehicle is advancing, and the approximately arc-shape supporting surface 22 comes into contact with the ridge part of the step 33, the overcoming of the step can be extremely easily performed by the arm rod 21 which is automatically operated. Also, since the already installed wheels 5 and 5 can be used as they are, the replacement or the removal of the wheels 5 and 5 is not required. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
