PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser and its manufacturing method capable of being made compact and thinned, outputting a light of a stable predetermined wavelength and contributing to a power saving as well. SOLUTION: This semiconductor laser 1 has a cooling function as a heat pipe. Moreover, as such function is materialized by laminating a substrate, it is possible to make compact and thin, to output a light of a stable predetermined wavelength, and to contribute to a power saving as well. Further, in particular, as a temperature of a semiconductor laser body 2 is detected, an internal pressure of the heat pipe is controlled based on a detected result, a temperature of the semiconductor laser body 2 is controlled, and a temperature of the semiconductor laser can be maintained at a fixed value with an extremely high accuracy.
