PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic paper of a twist ball system capable of displaying an image changing in an instant and also capable of smoothly expressing a moving image. SOLUTION: In the electronic paper (100), a plurality of minute spherical particles (1) having a different color on each hemisphere and electrified in a dipole state are rotatably held between a pair of holding films (2a, 2b) at least either one of which transmits light in the visible region and each of the spherical particles (1) is arranged between counter electrodes (3a, 3b) opposing each other, and an optional image is displayed by controlling the direction of each spherical particle by an electric field generated between the counter electrodes (3a, 3b).The electronic paper (100) is provided with a separator (5) for holding the spherical particle (1) in such a state that an electric field axis (A2) formed between the poles of the spherical particle (1) itself and piercing through the center of the spherical particle (1) is shifted from a center axis (A1) of the electric field formed between the counter electrodes (3a, 3b).
