PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burner for manufacturing fullerenes with which fullerenes can be stably manufactured in a reaction furnace without inducing backfire when the spouting speed of a carbon-containing fuel gas and an oxygen-containing gas is decreased, and to provide a method for manufacturing fullerenes by using the burner. SOLUTION: The burner 10 for manufacturing fullerenes introduces the carbon-containing fuel gas and the oxygen-containing gas into a reaction furnace 12 from a burner head 15. The burner head 15 has a porous air permeable member 15a to spout one gas A of either the carbon-containing fuel gas or the oxygen-containing gas into the reaction furnace 12, and the air permeable member 15a has many pipes 24 of small diameters inserting the member 15a so as to introduce the other gas B of either the carbon-containing fuel gas or the oxygen containing gas into the reaction furnace 12.
