PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive weedproof paper sheet needing no disposal of as an industrial waste by removal after used, easy to lay and hindering no natural propagation of plants with creeping branches, and to provide a method for using the same. SOLUTION: The weedproof paper sheet is to be used for growing a plant 7 after lying on soil 5 for cultivating the plant 7 therein while restraining weed growth through opened parts 3 provided at specified intervals so as to partly expose the soil 5. This sheet is made of paper such as newsprint paper which is naturally biodegradable. The method for using said weedproof paper sheet is as follows. In laying the sheet 1 on the soil 5, part or the whole of the upper surface of the sheet is covered with soil 6, and the sheet is folded in two or more and a fertilizer 4 is put in between the upper side sheet 1a and the lower side sheet 1b.
