The damper (10), for ball game racquets, has a base body of a foam material which is secured to at least one of the longitudinal racquet strings (4) without bonding the strings together, and preferably 2-10 strings. The damper is attached to the longitudinal strings at the bottom of the racquet frame (2,8) where the striking area is free of lateral strings (6,6asterisk). The foam body is held in place by a reusable adhesive or a burr contact fastener.
