The method involves selecting information to be provided from a data file depending on the position of the mobile electronic unit (50) and depending on the time. The position of the electronic unit is determined using a global positioning system or defined by cells of a mobile radio network . A mobile telephone can be used as the mobile electronic unit. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) an electronic unit for providing information (b) a computer program for implementing the inventive method (c) and a computer program product for implementing the inventive method.
