<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for a direct methanol type fuel cell suitable for being installed in a cold district, and an operating method capable of smoothly starting the direct methanol type fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel storage portion 5 storing methanol aqueous solution as liquid fuel supplied to a cell stack 10 is provided. A heating means 6 supplying a part of the methanol aqueous solution from the fuel storage portion 5 to raise the temperature thereof is provided between the fuel storage portion 5 and the cell stack 10. At the time of starting, the temperature of the methanol aqueous solution is raised by the heating means 6, thereby enabling smooth starting even when installed in the cold district. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
