摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that since a fitting part of a protective cap is formed into a specific cross-sectional shape in the length direction and surface pressure between the inner peripheral face of an outer ring member and the inner part of the protective cap becomes smaller compared with that between the inner peripheral face of the outer ring member and the front part of the protective cap, it causes muddy water or the like to easily intrude inside a rolling bearing for an axle in a rolling bearing device for an axle. SOLUTION: A maximum diameter D1 at the outer peripheral face end on the vehicle outer side at the fitting part 24 of the protective cap 18 is formed in a tapered shape gradually inclined toward the vehicle outer side so as to become larger in diameter than a diameter D2 on the inner peripheral face of a part 2a to be fitted in the outer ring member 2. By this, after the fitting part 24 is inserted into the part 2a to be fitted of the outer ring member 2, the vehicle outer side part of the fitting part 24 is slightly reduced in diameter; the vehicle outer side part of the fitting part 24 is surely adhered on the inner peripheral face of the outer ring member 2 by the elasticity of resins; an interference is made constant all over the area in the axial direction of the fitting part 24; and as a result, it is possible to secure sealing performance.
