PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diffraction grating pattern capable of producing a halftone by providing the diffraction grating pattern changed in the diffraction grating direction at each dot, the diffraction grating pattern with an enlarged viewing area by forming the diffraction grating pattern in curves instead of dots, and the diffraction grating formed in dots with a plurality of spatial frequencies, and to provide a method for manufacturing a display having such a diffraction grating as the above. SOLUTION: The display having the diffraction grating pattern is provided with a planar substrate, and the diffraction grating pattern is the one formed on the surface of the substrate and is divided into a plurality of minute dots, where each dot pitch, the spatial frequency of the diffraction grating, and each dot arrangement are varied as desired, and the direction of the diffraction grating formed of the dots varies at each dot.
