PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maximally avoid the mixing of irregular sheets in an output when an irregularity occurs. SOLUTION: This sheet conveying device comprises an irregular sheet detection sensor S1 detecting the double feed state of the sheets on a main conveying route 41 for conveying sheets. The sheets are re-separated by a re-separating means having a re-feed roller 91 rotating the double-fed sheets detected by the irregular sheet detection sensor S1 in the conveying direction of the sheets and a re-separating roller 92 for rotating the sheets in the reverse direction of the sheet conveying direction.
