PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically loading a storage car with bulk material. SOLUTION: Conveying speed of a bottom conveyor belt 6 is adjusted in response to an amount of the discharged bulk material 16 detected in a measuring process so that the storage car 1 in a storing operation mode S is filled to a maximal loading height (h<SB>max</SB>). After a conical accumulated pile 18 at the forefront of discharged bulk material 16 has reached a forward end position E, the conveying speed of the bottom conveyor belt 16, which is on the rear storage car 1 in a conveying direction 8 and adjacent to a transfer conveyor belt 10 of the storage car 1, is automatically reduced from a passage conveying operation mode D to the storing operation mode S.
