PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recorder employing a bubble jet (R) recording system in which ink can be sustained constantly in a state suitable for ejection in the vicinity of an ejection opening without performing preliminary ejection leading to interruption of recording operation. SOLUTION: An energizign means for an electrothermal converter Rh provided in each nozzle of a recording head comprises a single driving source and a control section 331 for controlling electric energy being supplied from the driving source. When the electrothermal converter Rh is driven before a predetermined time elapses after previous driving thereof, the control section 331 supplies the electrothermal converter Rh with electric energy for generating a bubble capable of ejecting an ink drop from a nozzle. When the electrothermal converter Rh is not driven even before elapsing a predetermined time after previous driving thereof, the electrothermal converter Rh is supplied with electric energy for generating a bubble ejecting no ink drop from a nozzle.
