PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer comprising a print controller and a printer engine in which a print missing is prevented by detecting a blank print sheet due to abnormal print data, the operability is enhanced by facilitating removal of a blank print sheet upon occurrence of a blank printing and separation of a trouble occurring part is facilitated. SOLUTION: In the printer, the printer engine is provided with a means for detecting print data received from a print controller which data can produce a blank print sheet in some print unit. When the print controller issues a command attributed to an error of the blank print as an print unit, the print is processed as an error in a case that the blank print in the print unit is detected. When the sheet cut in a unit of page is used and discharged, the sheet is discharged to a specified sheet discharge section in the case of the blank print. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
