<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of managing printer firmware capable of reducing the time required to replace or add a program module by eliminating the need to dismantle a main body to take out and replace a ROM or prepare a special environment. <P>SOLUTION: For a printer connected to a network, the method of managing printer firmware comprises a means (process) for receiving emails; a means (process) for analyzing the contents of the email; a means (process) for retaining and managing a program module; a means (process) for replacing an existing module with the module obtained by the analysis means; and a sending means for sending an updated software module as an attachment to the printer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
