摘要 1,075,733. Copying documents. M. E. WATSON, and H. EGERER. Jan. 17, 1966 [Feb. 8, 1965], No. 2054/66. Heading B6C. [Also in Division D1] A web 22 unrolled from a roll (21, Fig. 7) is printed on by a mirror-script master sheet 34 secured to a segment 67 of a printing-roller 33 of greater diameter than the rest of the roller, being fed frictionally during printing by the segment pressing it against a resiliently mounted impression roller 36 and being stationary between printing steps. The printing roller is rotated by a handle (37, Fig. 1), reverse rotation of which is prevented by a member (107, Fig. 3). Rotation of the handle also causes a locking pin (159, Fig. 12) to move out of a perforation (23, Fig. 14) in the web when the web is to be moved, and acts on a linkage system (38) to control a damping-device (39) for the web. The damping-device (Figs. 10, 11) comprises a holder (127) pivoted to links (117, 119), a tank (120) for liquid, supplied thereto by a pump (166) through a tube (167), pivoted to the holder, and a wick (129) in the tank with a lip (146) to contact a roller (131). In the normal position (Fig. 7), the roller is spaced from the web and from the wick. Rotation of the handle causes the parts to move to the position of Fig. 9 during printing, the wick contacting the roller, which moistens the web. If the machine is idle so that the web between the roller, Fig. 9, and the printing position has dried, the link (117) is moved manually to the position of Fig. 8, re-moistening that part of the web.
