摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase change optical recording medium which has a large capacity equivalent to DVD-ROM, can secure an enough modulation degree even when a recording linear velocity is within a wide range of 3.5-35 m/s including a high linear velocity of at least 25 m/s, and is good in over-writing repeating characteristics and high in storage reliability. <P>SOLUTION: In the phase change optical recording medium, a phase change recording material constituting a recording layer is formed from a phase change alloy containing at least Ga or In and Sb, Zr, and Mg. The compositional expression of the phase change alloy is expressed by A&alpha;Sb&beta;Zr&gamma;Mg&delta; (A is Ga or In; &alpha; ,&beta; ,&gamma;, and &delta; are each an atomic percent; &alpha;+&beta;+&gamma;+&delta;=100; and 6&le;&alpha;&le;50, 45&le;&beta;&le;90, 0.5&le;&gamma;&le;5, and 1&le;&delta;&le;6).
