<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably maintain a high-quality image over a long term by eliminating trouble such as the deterioration of an image carrier caused by excessive discharge regardless of the variance of the characteristic of an electrifying member or environmental fluctuation. <P>SOLUTION: The detection characteristic of an electrifying AC current detection circuit is made variable, and a current is detected by switching the detection characteristic between an electrifying AC current equal to or under discharge start voltage and an electrifying AC current equal to or above the discharge start voltage, so that the variance of a current detected value is made small. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
