PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rupturing and splitting structure for a connecting rod in which positioning accuracy between rupturing and splitting faces each other can be enhanced without increasing manufacturing costs, and further, assembly accuracy can be enhanced by preventing a cap part from being deformed in rupturing and splitting. SOLUTION: The rupturing and splitting structure for the connecting rod is so constituted that the surface hardening treatment is applied to the large end part 1b composed by integrally forming a rod part 2 and the cap part 3, the large end part 1b is ruptured and split into the rod part 2 and the cap part 3, and the rod part 2 and the cap part 3 are connected with joining bolts 4 in a state of aligning the rupturing and splitting faces each other. A surface hardened layer 5 hardened by the surface hardening treatment is formed on the outer surface part of the rupturing and splitting face of the large end part 1b and on the inner surface part of a bolt inserting hole 2a. At least a part of the part surrounded by the surface hardened layer 5 is left as a base material as it is just like before the surface hardening treatment is applied. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
