PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a rattle sound by setting a larger set load of a rack than a conventional value and suppress friction increased therewith by controlling an ECU in a rack pinion type movement conversion mechanism. SOLUTION: An electric power steering device is provided with an electric motor assisting the steering force of a steering shaft and the rack pinion type movement conversion mechanism conversion rotary movement of the steering shaft into linear movement. The set load of the rack for pressing a rack shaft against a pinion shaft is set in a predetermined scope of 300N or more by the rack pinion type movement conversion mechanism to reduce the rattle sound and friction caused by the rack set load by controlling the ECU.
