PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording head which can decrease an on-resistance value without increasing the size of a heater substrate, so as to miniaturize the heater substrate, an image recorder using the recording head, and a control method for the recording head and the image recorder. SOLUTION: A heater resistance is connected with a corresponding normal metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) transistor in series in each group on the heater substrate, and pitches of them are designed to be equal to one another so as to shorten connecting wiring. High withstand voltage MOS transistors are arranged in the respective groups one by one, and a pitch thereof is designed to be a length equivalent to the product of the pitch of the heater resistance and the number x of the heater resistances. Thus, the high withstand voltage MOS transistor has an x times as large area as the normal MOS transistor though having a higher on-resistance value per unit area than the normal MOS transistor. Consequently, the on-resistance of the high withstand voltage MOS transistor can be made adequately low. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
