PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head which prevents adhesion of a thermal activation component, a thermal activation unit for a thermal activation sheet employing the thermal head, and a printer employing the thermal activation unit. SOLUTION: The thermal head comprises: a heat storage layer (glaze layer 2) formed on the upper surface of a heat dissipation substrate (ceramic substrate 1); a heating element array formed of a plurality of heating resistors (3) and electrodes (4a, 4b) for supplying power to each heating resistor on the upper surface of the heat storage layer; and a protective layer (7) covering the upper surface thereof wherein thermal activation energy is imparted to a print media (thermal adhesive label R) containing a thermal activation component by supplying power to the heating element array. Two lines of layers (8a, 8b) for preventing adhesion of thermal activation component are provided substantially in parallel on the upper surface of the protective layer, while holding a region directly above the heating element array therebetween.
