Process measures cross sectional area of a fiber feed to a carding machine and individually regulates speed of two sets of stretching rollers

A spinning machine has a continuous fiber feed (FB) to a carding station with a series of roller groups. In a process to stretch the fibers, the cross sectional area of the grouped fibre feed is measured (8) upstream of a first set of rollers and the value used to regulate the operation of the first and second group of rollers. Both the first and second groups of rollers have individual regulation circuits. Also claimed is a commensurate assembly in which the groups of rollers are controlled and operate at different speeds as required. The less frequent signals are used in association with those parts of the machine having higher inertia, and higher frequency signals in association with those parts of the machine having lower inertia, including the rollers.
