PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce foaming of a solution in a cap member. SOLUTION: When the discharge of ink by an ink discharge hole 732 finishes, the level of the ink remaining in an ink reservoir part 720 is lower than the ink discharge hole 732. The ink discharge hole 732 is never covered with the remaining ink, and therefore there is not much fear of foaming of the ink even when the air flows back from the side of a suction pump 76 to the cap member 700. The danger that foams of the ink are generated upper than the cap member 700 is lessened, and the danger that foams of the ink are broken to stain a nozzle formation face with the ink when the cap member 700 seals the nozzle formation face, is reduced.
