PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polytrimethylene terephthalate copolymer which has a soft handle, a high shrinkability, and a high flame retardance and is not darkish and excellent in hue; and a fiber made thereof. SOLUTION: The polytrimethylene terephthalate copolymer is prepared by copolymerizing 0.5-3.0 wt% (in terms of phosphorus atom) specific phosphorus compound by using a titanium catalyst and contains a specified amount of a titanium compound in a dissolved state.
