SOLUTION: The local autonomous type vibration control device, which treats a mechanical structure including an unknown portion of characteristics as a controlling object, is provided with an actuator 13 which applies force or torque to a local system for controlling the local system expressing a point on the controlling object, a sensor 15 which observes the state of the local system, a vibration characteristics estimator 21 which estimates vibration characteristics of the local system on the basis of the output of the sensor 15, a state estimator 22 which estimates the state of the local system on the basis of the output of the sensor 15, an amplifier 23 which amplifies the output signal of the state estimator 22 to generate an output signal for driving the actuator 13, and a gain regulator 24 which regulates a gain of the amplifier 23 on the basis of the output signal of the vibration characteristics estimator 21.
