PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of an electrifying member, the generation of ozone and the wear of the surface layer of a body to be electrified (image carrier), etc., as to an electrifying device and an image forming apparatus equipped with the electrifying device. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a main electrifying means 2 for electrifying the body to be electrified (image carrier) 1, and a sub-electrifying means 9, and the device is provided with a mode of applying a bias on both the main electrifying means 2 and the sub-electrifying means 9 and electrifying the body to be electrified 1, and a mode of applying the bias only on the main electrifying means 2.
