PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve magnetic shield property of a torque sensor shaft for a magnetostoriction type torque sensor. SOLUTION: The magnetostriction type torque sensor shaft 2 is equipped with a magnetostiction detecting part 5 and an engaging part 6 with a power transmission shaft. The surface of at least the engaging part 6 except the detecting part 5 is covered with a shielding layer 8 containing paramagnetic material or diamagnetic material. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
