PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polytrimethylene terephthalate resin, excellent in molding properties, also excellent in application and adhesive properties of a coating and paste. SOLUTION: This polytrimethylene terephthalate resin consisting of≥80 wt. % trimethylene terephthalate recurring unit and having 0.5 dl/g intrinsic viscosity satisfies the following conditions (a) and (b). The condition (a) is that the content of cyclic dimers is≤2 wt. %. The condition (b) is that the terminal carboxy group is within≥0.3 and≤1 mol % range per the trimethylene terephthalate unit.
