PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a malodorous deodorant which has a sufficient deodorizing effect and its retention for the deodorization of malodorous gases (including ammonia, amine, hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, methyl sulfide, methyl disulfide, and so forth) generated from staled substances such as stock excretions, companion animal excretions, human excretions, domestic waste water or waste industrial water, evacuates or sludge generated at a sewerage facility which processes those evacuates, and garbage, and for the deodorization of malodorous substances such as excretions generating those malodorous gases, waste water, sludge, and staled substances; and a deodorizing method using the malodorous deodorant. SOLUTION: For this deodorizing method, the malodorous deodorant wherein a sulfite pulp for which pH of a solution with 5% solid portion is acidic is made the main component is used.
