The wrench has an elongated handle (10) comprising a fixed rigid shaft (14) with a V-shaped cam hole (13) at its coupling end (12). A hollow cylindrical holder (20) with an open end (25) contains a chamber (211) for locating a compression spring (40) and has a peripheral wall (212) containing two diametrically opposed pin holes (215). The holder is slid over the handle so that the coupling end and cam hole are located inside the holder chamber and the pin holes are aligned with the cam hole. The spring is in contact with the coupling end of the handle and with the coupling end (22) of the holder. A pin (30) is passed through the pin and cam holes so that it is in sliding contact with a cam surface (13W) defined by the cam hole. Applying a force to the impact end (11) of the shaft causes the cam surface to move, which rotates the pin and turns the holder relative to the handle.
