Strain or deformation sensor (1) has a first inductive element and a least a further element (2) that has a pressure-dependent first impedance or second impedance and a second inductance that are also pressure-dependent. Thus variation in the pressure applied to the element changes the resonance frequency of a circuit formed by the impedances and inductances. An Independent claim is made for a method for monitoring strain or deformation, particularly of a tightened bolt.
