[Also in Division F1] A pressurized dispensing container is operable upright, inverted or on its side, and has a gravity-operated ball valve 44 which, in the upright position of the container shown, permits liquid flow through valve housing ports 48 to dip tube 30 and the container discharge valve, and in the inverted position of the container, Fig. 2 (not shown), closes ports 48, liquid passing through dip tube 50 and valve housing 32 to dip tube 30. In Fig. 14, the liquid inlet 348 is off-set from the ball valve, and an end wall 346 of the valve housing may be perforated so that the liquid flow moves ball 44 on to its seat 42, and only the quantity of liquid in the dip tubes is discharged, followed by propellant gas which serves to purge the dip tubes and discharge valve. The dip tubes may be flexible and valve housing 32 weighted to ensure liquid discharge when the container is on its side, Fig. 3 (not shown). The two dip tubes may be formed as coaxial or side-by-side passages in a single moulding, Figs. 6 to 13 (not shown).</p> |
