PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for isolating arc in an electrical vehicle are provided to prevent the electric shock accident of a driver and a fellow passenger by blocking the supply of a main battery power in case that an arc discharge generates. CONSTITUTION: A first switch(20) controls a voltage supply between a main battery(A) and a load(B). A connector(30) supplies the voltage from the main battery(A) to the load(B). An arc detector(40) detects an arc discharge generated in the connector(30). A controller(50) compares the arc discharge voltage detected in the arc detector(40) with a preset reference voltage to control the voltage from the main battery(A) supplied to the load(B). A second switch(60) is switched in response to a control signal applied from the controller(50) to determine whether supplying the voltage to the main battery(A) performs or not.
