PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation device capable of absorbing shock of a vertical direction and coping with vibration of all directions for a structure having a long span such as a bridge with a simple structure. SOLUTION: This base isolation device has an upper side member 3 fixed to an upper structure 1, a lower side member 4 supported by a foundation member 2, a rolling member 5 interposed between the upper side member 3 and the lower side member 4, and an attitude holding means of the rolling member 5. An abutting surface of the upper side member 3, the lower side member 4 and the rolling member 5 is formed into a curved surface. The rolling member 5 is formed into a ball-shape having a substantially elliptical shape in cross section. A first abutting surface abutted with the upper side member 3 and the rolling member 5 thereon and a second abutting surface abutted with the lower side member 4 and the rolling member 5 thereon have structures different in perpendicular position.
